Letter from the ASUW President

Hi Huskies!

My name is Naomi Snow, and I have the privilege of serving as your 2024-2025 ASUW President. I ran for this role because I am passionate about UW, ASUW, and student advocacy. This is my fourth year involved in ASUW, and I have previously served as leadership in the Student Senate as the Membership Coordinator and as the Board Director of Programming. Every year, my love for this campus and its students grows, and I am honored to continue working on your behalf.
My goal for this year is to make higher education as equitable and accessible as possible. ASUW exists to serve students, and that means putting our money where our values are—investing in cost-saving initiatives, supporting mental health resources, fostering community, expanding outreach, and making sure ASUW is structured in a way that best meets its mission. Internal change is just as important as external impact, and I want to ensure that ASUW is set up for long-term success so future student leaders can serve you even better.

Higher education should not be a privilege—it should be a priority at the university, state, and federal levels. Every student deserves the opportunity to thrive in an environment that supports their growth, and that means breaking down financial barriers, advocating for policies that put students first, and making sure that no one is left behind.
Advocacy is at the heart of ASUW, but advocacy isn’t always easy. It means having difficult conversations, standing up for what’s right, and sometimes feeling like the only person in the room willing to speak out.

Speak your truth, even if your voice shakes. When you are afraid to speak up, that is when it matters most.
Whether it’s calling for institutional change, pushing for student-centered policies, or simply standing up for yourself and others—your voice has power. Never underestimate the impact of using it.

Mental health is something we all experience, and yet it is too often overlooked. College can be overwhelming, and it’s okay to struggle. What’s important is that no one feels alone in that struggle. ASUW is committed to pushing for greater mental health resources, normalizing conversations about well-being, and ensuring that students have the support they need.

It’s okay not to be okay. Vulnerability is strength.

None of this work would be possible without my team. The people in ASUW are some of the most passionate, dedicated individuals I have ever met, and I am endlessly grateful for them. We are here to serve you, and we want to hear from you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out, get involved, and make your voice heard.

This year is about making real, tangible change for students—and I’m excited for what we’ll accomplish together.
GO HUSKIES!!!
